New Running Group

Being new to the Denver area, so far I have been left asking you guys about running trails, asking random people on the street about where to run, and basically trail and error for myself. Its been pretty easy though, because everyone here seems to be into some form of active sports.

I was SUPER pumped yesterday morning when a girl that I had met here called me to invite me to her running group!

Its called the Irish Snug and is actually a bar that has a weekly run group on Thursday nights.

Its a cute little place just about 2 miles from my apartment, so its perfect! And if you run 10 runs with them you get a t-shirt that you can wear if you go to the bar and you get free beer! Hey, can't beat that!

I had to really take a look back at my last post for inspiration on my run yesterday. I was really tired from working all day and I was supposed to get in a 6 mile run for training. Honestly, I just wanted to go home, get the run over with and then crash.

But I know that sometimes plans change, and in order to really get the most out of life, you have to go with the flow. The group only does a 3 mile run, so I ended up getting in 3 miles of my run at a leisurely pace, because we were all talking the whole time.

In the end, I didn't get to follow through with my training plan, but I got to join a fun group of runners, run on a new trail, and make some new friends! I think that pretty much means I win :)

I can't wait to get a t-shirt!!

Do you have trouble straying away from your set plans? Or do you just go with the flow all the time?

Speaking of plans, what is everyone doing for the weekend/the FOURTH OF JULY?

  1. Welcome back to the bloggy world! (Sorry, google hasn't let me post any comments in a while) We have a running group like that here too - our shirts are awesome. And after 30 runs, you get a beer mug!

  3. I'm having a hard time with a structured plan. I love running how I feel and having the flexibility to do fun runs like yours. This plan might be getting kicked to the curb soon!
